Broadband by Satellite BT to provides an excellent Broadband Service to Tollesbury. However, there is an alternative via Satellite. For most people with a Sky Dish all that is required is a connection via an easily installed suitable PCI Digital Video Broadcasting Card (cost maybe c. £30) or a suitable DVD USB Box (cost maybe c. £60). Simply connect to the Sky Dish and through a suitable service supplier you could be downloading files between 5 times faster (256 Kb / sec - cost maybe c. £20 per month) and 40 times faster (2mb / sec- cost maybe £60 per month).
DVB USB Box That is about all there is to it. If you have a basic Sky system then you may have to disconnect your TV; or you can install (or have installed) a Quad LNB connection if you want to use both TV and Broadband at the same time. {This may invalidate your insurance}. However the main advantage of Broadband is in the time it takes for files to download, so that this might not be much of a problem.. If you have Sky + then there is likely to be already a Quad LNB (Low Noise Band) connection (Quad - Four connectors). What is described above is essentially a one-way-system. Your outgoing communication is by the normal Dial Up process, but your incoming information is via the high speed satellite link. It is possible to pay for two way systems if that is important. The above describes services using the Eurobird Satellite located at Longitude 28.5o East and which essentially covers one third of the globe and the whole of the Britain, although you may need a larger Dish for more remote areas.
