THE FUTURE OF THE PARISH CHURCHES Many of you will already be aware of the fact that change is in the air for your parish. This message from the Churchwardens is to inform you what is being proposed. By the end of 2008 the deanery of Witham Have decided to lose one minister . Preparation for this started in 1999 and careful consideration has resulted in a scheme of reorganisation to the parishes of Tollesbury , Tolleshunt d' Arcy , Salcott--cum-Virley and Tolleshunt Major. These four parishes will be combined under one parish priest. It will be a challenge for us all but with the continued support of enthusiastic lay workers and licensed assistants working with the four churches new opportunities of service will open up. The four Parochial Church Councils have already met and are taking an active part in any plans, ably encouraged by the Archdeacon of Colchester, who has commented positively on the way these challenges are being approached. In due course we will be holding open meetings in all four parishes to which everyone will be invited to come along to hear how plans are progressing. In the meantime if you have any questions please contact one of your churchwardens Who will do their best to help. Please remember that our churches will remain open and at the heart of the communities with everyone working together to the glory of God. Churchwardens:- Tollesbury & Salcott
Tolleshunt d' Arcy & Tolleshunt Major
