Part Night Street Lighting We are sure that most of you have heard that Essex County Council intend to reduce street lighting provision and are carrying out trials in this area. They are intending to switch off most of the County Council lighting in the village from 12 am - 5am. For more details see the map in the notice board on the bus shelter. The squares in blue are the ones they intend to switch off. The green circles are the lights the parish owns. The Parish Council have not yet decided whether they should also switch off these lights for part of the night. If you have any comments, complaints or suggestions about the decision to switch off the County Council lights, please send them to Mr Stuart Jennings at Maldon District Council or Cllr Rodney Bass at Essex County Council (our County Council representative) not the parish council! On a brighter note! It is the centenary of Tollesbury's Marine Lake (Woodup Pool). Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th June 2007 Combined Centenary Celebration and St Mary's Church Fete Woodup Pool, The Hard and the large boatshed at the Boatyard Almost one hundred years ago, on the 9th June 1907, with much ceremony, celebration and festivity, the Marine Lake was officially opened. Since then it has been an important feature within the life of the village of Tollesbury. As this important milestone should be celebrated in a very special way it has been decided to have a community day. There will be stalls, crafts, sideshows, beer tent, sea shanties, oysters and crabbing, open air swim for charity, bathing belles, village stocks, duck race, short boat trips and much, much more! We look forward to seeing you all and enjoying a really good community event
